The Ihya difference.
The Ihya Approach
___
Intellectual Formation
What we teach and how we teach is traditional, time-tested, and intellectually rigorous. Outcomes: Students test above average/grade level in reading, language, and mathematics; are trained in grammar, logic, and rhetoric to understand deeply, think logically, and communicate effectively; and cultivate a love of learning and wonder.
Spiritual Formation
Our madrasah model lays the foundation for a strong Muslim identity rooted in faith and grounded in tradition. Outcomes: Students memorize the primers (mutun) in Aqidah, Fiqh, and Tasawuf, as well as Qur’an, hadith, and duas. Students learn the rational proofs of Islam and how to counter arguments against other worldviews.
Character Formation
Through the inculcation of good character (akhlaq) and manners (adab), our goal is to cultivate morally-upright human beings and productive members of society. Outcomes: Students serve their families, school, and local community. They internalize, practice, and reflect upon Islamic virtues and their application in daily life
The Ihya Model
___
Classical, Integrated Curriculum
Students read living books from the rich heritage of the Western and Muslim tradition. All subjects are taught from an Islamic perspective; connecting all knowledge to a single point: Allah ﷻ
Personalized Learning
Our small school model prioritizes quality over quantity through one-on-one instruction, mixed-age learning, and individual educational plans; developing each student’s strengths, needs, skills, and interests.
Wholesome Environment
The intellectual, spiritual, and physical life of every student is preserved on a daily basis through outdoor recreational opportunities, spiritual routines, and restful learning experiences.
